Francesc Ruiz at the Spanish Pavilion at the 56th Venice Biennale

García | Galería is pleased to inform you about the participation of Francesc Ruiz in the Spanish Pavilion at the 56th Venice Biennale. The project Los sujetos, curated by Martin Manen, also includes works by the artists Cabello/Carceller and Pepo Salazar.

In his work, Ruiz explores comic as a language able to reflect social reality, politics and history but also with a narrative system of its own. Using this the artist can explore a series of themes, usual in his work, such as cultural constructions, gay and queer history and reality or the history of comic in itself.

In Venice Ruiz will be bounding the limits between capital and public morality and the media in a very complex construction, both in technical and conceptual complexity.

Francesc Ruiz (Barcelona, 1971) has shown his work at Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía (MNCARS), Fundació Miró (Barcelona y Palma de Mallorca), MACBA (Barcelona), CGAC (Santigo de Compostela), MUSAC (Leon) in Spain and at the New Museum (New York), Carre d’Art (Nimes), Weserburg Museum (Bremen), Gassworks (London), Bienal de Shangai, MOCA (Los Angeles), Witte de With (Rotterdam), Bienal de Istambul and Salzburger Kunstverein among others.
