Karlos Gil | Generación 2015

Karlos Gil will be taking part in the new edition of Generación. He was been selected among 650 participants by a jury formed by Nuria Enguita, co-curator of the Sao Paulo Biennale 2014, Tania Pardo, independient curator and Francesco Stocchi, Senior Curator at Modern and Contemporary Art Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen.

Karlos Gil’s multifaceted artistic practice uses paradox and memory and navigates the gap between past and present to articulate or question the codes that construct meaning. His latest projects reflect on the cadences of language as a narrative device andtheir non-communicative use through multiple conceptual strategies, where art acts as a hypothesis about the unknown. Using a wide variety of media, he explores shifts in meaning related to the art object and examines its cognitive value as a specific system of knowledge production.

Gil studied at the School of Visual Arts in New York and the Fine Art Faculties of Madrid and Lisbon. His recent exhibitions include Secret Codes (Galeria
Luisa Strina, São Paulo), Like Potted Plants in an Office Lobby (Gasworks, London), 2nd Moscow International Biennale (MMoMA, Moscow Museum of Modern
Art), Archaeology Fabricated (Junefirst Gallery, Berlin), A Viagem da Sala 53 (Galeria Baginski, Lisbon) and The Moon Museum (LABoral, Gijón).

The show will run from February 12th to April 5th 2015 at Casa Encendida, Madrid.
Opening: Thursday, February 5th, 2015, 20,00 pm
